Sedikit berkutik di Europen Norm Standard (EN), di Indonesia standard ini diaplikasikan dalam pembuatan pressure vessel untuk proses pertambangan minyak. Design code dari vessel yang dibuat mengacu pada BS 5500: Unfired fusion welded pressure vessel,edisi yang beredar gratis di internet tahun 2009.heeee”

Untuk pengelasan standard yang digunakan EN ISO 15614: Specification and qualification of welding procedures for metallic materials welding procedure test. Dibagi dalam beberapa part:

Part 1: Arc and gas welding of steel and nickel.

Part 2: Arc welding of alluminium and its alloys.

Part 3: Fusion and pressure welding of non alloyed and low-alloyed cast irons.

Part 4: Finishing welding of alluminium castings.

Part 5: Arc welding of titanium, zirconium and their alloys.

Part 6: Arc and gas welding of cooper and its alloys.

Part 7: Overlay welding.

Part 8: Welding of tubes to tube-plate joints.

Part 10: Hyperbaric dry welding.

Part 11: Electron and laser beam welding.

Part 12: Spot, seam and projection welding.

Part 13: Resistance butt and flash welding.

Dalam kualifikasi procedure standard ini lebih sedikit rumit dibanding dengan standard ASME Sec IX yang biasa kita gunakan, apalagi ketika ada requairement dari client untuk dilakukan pengujian impact pada temperatur tertentu (temperature below 0oC), sehingga heat input selama pengelasan harus dijaga. Yang pernah saya aplikasikan Part 1 sama Part 7. Di EN setiap kali melakukan kualifikasi procedure disyaratkan untuk menggunakan pihak ketiga yang dikenal dengan Examiner or Examining Body di Indonesia adalah MIGAS.

Akan saya berikan sedikit rangkuman dalam pembuatan welding procedure specification (WPS) according to EN 15614 Part 1:

A. Test Piece

Standard minimum test piece sbb:

B. Preliminary WPS

Format WPS mengikuti standard minimum dari EN 15609: Specification and qualification of welding procedures for metallic materials:part 1 Arc welding. Berikut juga penjelasan dari parameter-parameter dari pembuatan WPS.

C. Pengelasan Test Piece

Test piece dilas sesuai dengan parameter dari preliminary WPS, dan dilakukan pengamatan terhadap essensial variable yang perlu untuk direcord.

Record tersebut dibuat dalam format Record of weld test Annex A dari EN 15614-1

D. Pengujian

Pengujian dari test piece mengacu pada table 1-Examination and testing of the test piece of EN 15614-1. Dan Figure 5 Location of test specimens for butt joint in plate.

E. Penyusunan WPQR (Welding procedure qualification report)

Data yang dibutuhkan diantaranya:record of weld test, test result dan backup data-datanya, kemudian certificate material dan filler metal.

F. Penyusunan WPS

WPS dibuat berdasarkan essensial variable dari EN 15614-1, variable tersebut diantaranya.

1. Parent material grouping

In order to minimise the number of welding procedure tests, steels, nickel and nickel alloys are grouped according to CR ISO 15608. Jadi pengelompokan material di EN standard mengacu pada CR ISO 15608:Welding – Guidelines for a metallic material grouping system.

3. Welding Process

In the same way, it is not allowed to change the means of implementation (manual, mechanised or automated). The qualification is only valid for the welding process(es) used in the welding procedure test.

For multi-process procedures the welding procedure qualification may be carried out with separate welding procedure tests for each welding process. It is also possible to make the welding procedure test as a multi-process procedure test. The qualification of such a test is only valid for the process sequence carried out during the multiprocess procedure test.

4. Welding Position

Welding of a test in any one position (pipe or plate) qualifies for welding in all positions (pipe or plate) except for PG and J-L045 where a separate welding procedure test shall be required.

When impact and/or hardness requirements are specified impact tests shall be taken from the weld in the highest

heat input position and hardness tests shall be taken from the weld in the lowest heat input position in order to qualify for all positions.

For example, butt welds in plate the highest heat input position is normally PF and the lowest PC. For fixed pipe

welds the hardness tests shall be taken from the overhead welding position.

5. Type of joint/weld

a) Butt welds qualify full and partial penetration butt welds and fillet welds. Fillet weld tests shall be required where this is the predominant form of production welding.

b) Butt joints in pipe also qualify branch connections with an angle

c) T joints butt welded only qualify T joints butt welded and fillet welds (see a);

d) Welds made from one side without backing qualify welds made from both sides and welds with backing;

e) Welds made with backing qualify welds made from both sides;

f) Welds made from both sides without gouging qualify welds made from both sides with gouging;

g) Fillet welding qualifies fillet welding only;

h) It is not permitted to change a multi-run deposit into a single run (or single run on each side) or vice versa for a given process.
